Kidnapped YFM presenter found in hospital

The YFM Takoradi presenter, who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by a gang, has been found.

Ms Ada, real name, Adaeza Onyinyechie Ayoka was said to have been unreachable about a week. It was later confirmed that she had been abducted by a gang who posted pictures on social media showing them molesting her.

Management of YFM has confirmed that one of the presenters in Takoradi, Western Region, has been abducted by an unknown gang.

Adaeza Onyinyechie Ayoka, popularly known as Ms Ada, who has been unreachable for close to a week, is believed to have been raped several times by her abductors, according to pictures posted on social media. It is not clear why the presenter was the target.

Members of the gang took pictures as they sexually assaulted her and posted them on social media but Facebook subsequently pulled the page down.

Meanwhile, management of YFM say “the matter has been reported to the Regional Command of the Ghana police.”

They further assured that they are” working with the Ghana Police Service to find her.”

Below is the full statement posted on the station’s facebook wall

“Yfm wishes to announce that the presenter of the Y Lounge show in Takoradi, Ms.Ada, also known as Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka has been abducted.

At this point we have not been contacted by any persons. We have reported this matter to the Regional Command of the Ghana police. We want to assure the public that we are working with the Ghana Police Service to find Ms Ada. We invite anybody with information to contact Yfm, Takoradi on 0273448888 and the Ghana Police Service.”

Meanwhile, Viasat1 News Online understands that the kidnappers are now demanding a ransom before releasing Ms Ada, but Head of Corporate Communication at Global Media Alliance, Naomi Nelson, has denied it, saying there has not been any direct demand of ransom from kidnappers.

She said they have not been able to reach Ms Ada since her abduction. According to her, the Takoradi Police have told them today, Tuesday, that they have received information claiming Ms Ada is in a hospital, which they are yet to confirm.

Naomi Nelson also confirmed that Ms Ada has not been reached on phone for close to a week.
