Ace actor Kofi Adu aka ‘Agya Koo’ who is a Director of Metro FM, a leading radio station in Kumasi, on Friday, suffered the unpleasant situation of being overpowered by about 3,000 widows and widowers.
The enthusiastic widows and widowers had thronged the Jubilee Park in Kumasi with anticipation of laying their hands on the free rice and chicken being distributed by Metro FM.
The fast growing radio station was organizing the event to help bring smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries so that they could also celebrate Easter just like any Ghanaian.
Interestingly, the station made little noise about the event, budgeting for 1000 widows and widowers but on the day, about 3000 widows and widowers from Kumasi and nearby towns stormed the venue, full of hope.
Agya Koo, who was distributing the bags of rice and live chickens to the beneficiaries, initially noticed the problem at hand so he alerted management of the station to bring more stock to satisfy everybody present.
Addressing the mammoth gathering prior to distributing the items, Agya Koo sternly cautioned Ghanaians not to toy with widows and widowers since the Holy Bible preached against it.
He said any person or group that cheated widows and widowers to enrich themselves would surely face the wrath of God, charging the populace to have interest in the lives of those who have lost their husbands and wives.
Metro FM, he stated, has taken upon itself to play leading roles to use its profit to address the needs and concerns of the needy in society including widows, widowers and orphans.
He lamented over situations whereby pregnant women were detained in hospitals after delivery due to lack of cash to settle their bills, promising that Metro FM would strive to help those who would find themselves in such horrible situations.
Most of the beneficiaries of Metro FM’s largesse praised managers of the station for bringing joy into their lives during the Easter season, praying for God’s guidance and protection for the rapid growth of the station.
