No Need For Incessant Politicisation ; Before NPP/ NDC There Was Ghana!

Ghanaians must begin to appreciate the fact that nationalism comes before any other specific agendum from any group of people within the country. Inasmuch as we try to show the extreme love for our individual religious sects, political affiliations, cultural settings and so forth, we must always uphold the spirit of togetherness which bonded our Founding Leaders to “conjure” Ghana from the then Gold Coast which was under the strict supervision of the various Europeans who made the place their second home. Whilst the Portuguese, Danes, Dutch, Swedes and finally the British gallivanted across the length and breadth of the then Gold Coast, nothing seemed important to them than their respective Governors or Leaders’ plans for the then Gold Coast.

Significantly, the tremendous efforts of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ako Adjei, Obetsebi Lamptey, Akufo Addo, Ofori Atta and J. B. Danquah towards the 6th March, 1957 movement would forever be engraved in our souls as Ghanaians. Had these gallant Founding members (The Big Six) concentrated more on their respective political ideologies, we would probably be under the last Governor (Sir Lord Listowel or his cohorts); but, they placed Ghana first!

There is this group called “Hot Debate” that I join on WhatsApp and there was a fierce banter about the Pokuase Interchange. The debate centred on whether the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had started the work (and other worthless insinuations). It went on for about 2 hours with lots of insults and jabs!

Even though I hardly comment on such political issues posted on the said page, a friend called me out and solicited for my opinion.

“Make dem all kommot for there! The project was started with GHANA’s money so where from the NPP/ NDC debate? Mtchweeew”.***

The above comment closed the issue and we all started laughing! Let’s realize that before UGCC/CPP there was Gold Coast and so Ghana was around long before NPP/ NDC came to place!

Just look at the recent Jamestown fracas between the NPP and NDC fanatics as various persons suffered varying degrees of injuries after an unknown gunman fired into supporters at the Odododiodio Constituency.

Why should party interests be elevated ahead of that of the nation?

Seriously, most Ghanaians are just fed up with the incessant politicisation of every sh!t here and there.
