The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan has revealed that the police has instituted measures to ensure an incident-free Christmas season.

According to the IGP, measures have been put in place to ensure the free flow of traffic and to also curb crime.

The IGP, who made the remarks when he made a donation to the Police Hospital in Accra, also indicated that the police is periodically patrolling the city to ensure law and order.

“All these are strategies geared towards ensuring that we contain the extra traffic that comes with this festive occasion,” he revealed.

The Police earlier this month launched a programme dubbed “Operations Father Christmas.”

Scores of police personnel have been deployed under the programme at strategic locations throughout the country to ensure peace and security before, during and after the Christmas festivities.

The deployment forms part of security arrangements being rolled out by the Ghana Police Service towards an incident-free end-of-celebrations.

The Director General of Operations of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police Mr. John Kudalor, revealed this when he launched the fifth edition of “Operation Father Christmas” in Accra earlier in the month.

He said the operation, which was commenced in 2010, is used to roll out security arrangements to ensure an incident-free Christmas.
