Organisers of the Ghana Music Awards have said Ruff N Smooth’s song Azingele was among nominations for the Afro-Pop song of the Year category but fell out at the final selection process for that category.

Speaking to Hitz Entertainment News, Juno Abena Turkson, Media/Public Relations Manager, Charter House, the awards organizers, said they don’t have any reason to reject a song from the awards if that song truly deserves a nomination and an award.
The music duo, Ruff N Smooth, expressed their displeasure with organizers for not nominating any of their songs in this year’s awards.
The group felt that they have released good enough materials that should be in the nominations and possibly win awards, but Juno said their song Azingele was considered during the nominations stage.
“…what I can confirm is that during the nominations stages their song Azingele was nominated, it was categorized with Afro-Pop…however when it came to the short-listing process when we cut down to the first six, that we published, that song was unfortunately dropped out so Ruff N Smooth was considered,” she said.
“Although we couldn’t take that album because the album had singles released that were taken in last year’s awards we considered that single released in the year under review and considered it for Afro-Pop song of the Year.”
