CONTRACTORS TO BE SETTLED – MINISTER FOR FINANCE.

Many Ghanaians have bemoaned the economic hardships that are felt in town when contractors for various government projects are not paid timely. According to most traders, when contractors are paid, they help in the circulation of both physical and electronic cash in the system.

Present and past governments have been accused of their discriminatory approaches towards the plights of local contractors. Some observers feel that foreign contractors are respected and paid diligently than their local counterparts.

Quite recently, some contractors literally begged the ruling party to see to it that all their outstanding debts with local contractors are paid to avoid the excessive interests on acquired loans for their projects.

Mr. Ken Ofori Atta through his occasional meetings with bankers revealed that contractors would soon be settled to help ease the tension that some of them are going through.

In his statement during the encounter, he said, “I am pleased to announce that government will settle contractors soon.
