Why are pastors still after tithes and offering in this COVID-19 situation? —Ken Agyapong
Maverick politician cum philanthropist, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who represents the Asin Central Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana has bemoaned the actions of some pastors in the wake of all these COVID-19 cases across the globe.
Readers can recall that per the Executive order banning more than 25 persons gathering at once as a directive to minimize the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, churches were held online across the length and breadth of the country last Sunday.
During the online services, various shortcodes were put out by some pastors to demand tithes and offerings via MoMo transactions. Reacting to this, Ken Agyapong explained that tithes, for instance, is the one-tenth of one’s gains. So he questioned why people should pay tithes whilst they are in self-isolation and not working.
