WHY ARE SOME PASTORS CAUTIONING GOV’TS TO OPEN CHURCHES AMID COVID-19?

This isn’t the time for debates as to whether divinity has a direct link to whatever happens to humanity or otherwise. Let’s assume that all religious entities that exist across the globe like Hinduism, Confucianism, Christianity, Islam, and others are 100% on course for the sake of this write-up.

As a result of Coronavirus, social distancing is being touted as the surest remedy to subdue the spread of the virus. Because of this, all social gatherings have been postponed until further notice.

Religion has been affected greatly by the Novel Coronavirus just like other facets of life such as the economy, relationship, etc. Undoubtedly, most peeps feel that Christianity has been affected most by COVID-19 than other religious sects like Islam, African Traditional Religion, and so forth.

The above assertion is partly so because of how some pastors across the globe have started complaining about the closure of churches or the inability to hold physical church services. It is on record that a pastor in Nigeria has threatened that anyone who opposes the reopening of churches will face death.

Also, in Ghana, a renowned pastor who doubles as the flag bearer of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Sofo Kyiri Abosom has prophesied doom on Ghana if the authorities refuse to give a clear signal for churches to start physical services soon.

Many netizens have opined that most pastors are stressing on the reopening of churches amid the COVID-19 canker because of the offerings and tithes they are missing at the moment. Some are also with the view that these pastors miss their congregants and the mere spiritual link via bonding with them.

So, why are some pastors fighting for the reopening of churches? Does the financial reason outweigh the spiritual aspect?
