The Struggling, Hustling And Bustling For The Sake Of Bread.

Portions of the Lord’s prayer specifically states that, “give us this day our daily bread”, and this has a lot of importance attached to it by religiously inclined people. The same Holy Bible attached relevance to hard work when it indicated the hand that does not work deserves no bread (food).

Well, I recently took a stroll through one of the busiest markets in West Africa – the Techiman market, and, I had a lot to feast my curious mind with.

Even though I became marvelled with lots of things, what really caught my attention was a cobbler shop that had been opened as early as 6:00am for their usual businesses. Honestly, I couldn’t resist but ask their candid permission to subject them to unwarranted investigative questioning.

As I swiftly engaged them in a chitchat and they revealed how they go through these cumbersome activities on daily basis just to make a few coins for their upkeep, I realised life is really a warfare in every step of the way.

After taking leave of them, I strolled to a nearby market woman who, perhaps, sold everything except humans! In fact, she had almost everything — gari, shito, garlic, tomatoes, pepper (red or green; dried or fresh), cucumber, cabbage, cassava, plantain, okro, garden eggs, and so on and so forth. Strategic marketing could be a tool in disguise by this woman since most men may be attracted to the shop to do impulse buying because of her beautiful daughters.

On and on, I went from one place to another just to have a feel of how things look like for some people in the scorching sun just because they have decided to find money the right way.

So, remember that the hustle is real everywhere — all for the sake of bread !!!
