USD 7.5m for sensitization on patronizing cocoa products is too much – Minority Caucus.
The yet to be assessed US$600m Cocoa Loan Facility has turned the Parliament House into a chaotic arena. Whilst the Majority Caucus are optimistic of cocoa production soaring as a result of this new loan facility, the Minority on the other hand are of entirely different views.
When the Cocoa Loan Facility was laid on the floor for deliberations and subsequent acceptance, the Minority Caucus drew the Speaker’s attention to the fact that they lacked the numerical strength to vote the facility into being.
This did not stop the Minority from casting insinuations at the proposed US$7.5m out of the total US$600m for strategic marketing, communications and advertisements. The proposed amount out of the total stated above, is to be used to broadcast the need to eat chocolates (made from indigenous cocoa) in Ghana in order to promote the mass production of cocoa in the country.
As soon as this was suggested by the Majority Caucus, there was a sharp rebuttal from the Minority Caucus who feel that such outrageous amount maybe diverted to other unrelated ventures.
Have you patronised made in Ghana chocolates before ?
